Bio Base Europe Pilot Plant
Whiskey waste for biofuel
Award winning start-up company that in their process utilises a biological by-product stream as the raw material (residues from the whisky industry) to convert it into high-value chemicals for biofuel (Bio-Butanol) as a substitute for petrol and diesel. This fuel is more powerful and advanced than bioethanol, which is produced from sugarcane or corn. Clean Production: The project outcome helps to reduce the reliance on raw materials, as well as reducing the amount of waste by taking up the residues of another manufacturing process.
